"A(nother) pointer from the vow, "Greed, hatred, and ignorance rise endlessly," is that the activity of practice is never-ending. There isn't an end state that one gets to. One doesn't realize a kind of equanimity that is constantly enduring. In fact, the only equanimity that is possible is the equanimity that greed, hatred, and ignormace rise endlessly. That one can coexist in one's life as one's life. That one can effectively move in one's life in the very midst of greed, hatred, anger, ignorance, confusion, disturbance, all of the dark side states. One can move in the texture of one's life, in the midst of all that is disturbing, and still live the life of a Buddha. Zen Master Dae Gak.
